OUR STORY
The Orangery is an independent tearoom in Norfolk, nestled in the heart of the countryside near Wymondham. Surprisingly, we are just 15 minutes from the centre of Norwich. Set in the grounds of historic Ketteringham Hall and enjoying lake views, The Orangery is a particularly perfect place to relax and enjoy a coffee or a pot of loose leaf tea with a homemade cake or sweet treat.
Above all, we are a family-owned and run tearoom; we opened our doors for the first time in May 2019. The Orangery was founded on a love of baking and family-feel customer service, and this has only escalated since!
Together with other independent businesses, we operate in a unique position within Ketteringham Hall’s professional community.
YOUR VISIT
Start your day right with breakfast on our terrace! Whether you’d like to enjoy an indulgent breakfast board or classic bacon sandwiches, we have lots to tempt you. We also offer light lunches, featuring a selection of sandwiches and paninis, scotch eggs and sausage rolls. Everything is fresh and made to order!
For an extra special treat why not book a traditional or savoury Afternoon Tea? Brimming with lovingly made delicacies, they are the perfect centrepiece for any celebration. We have plenty of champagne and prosecco waiting in the wings if you wish to elevate your experience even further!
THE SETTING
We welcome our customers to wander the grounds of Ketteringham Hall, but all private signs must be acknowledged and adhered to. The halls’ grounds are private and subsequently not for use by the general public. This means that access is extended only to our tearoom customers during our opening hours. Well-behaved dogs are made welcome on our terrace but must be kept on a lead. This applies both in the vicinity of the tearoom and in the grounds. Water and dog treats are also available!
Due to the historic and unique nature of the building there is currently no wheelchair access to the tearoom, although we will endeavour to assist those with mobility issues wherever possible. However, we are happy to serve our takeaway menu so you can enjoy the lovely lakeside views on one many benches within the grounds. Please do contact us if you have any furthers concerns or queries.
We loved the whole experience having afternoon tea for my Mother’s 89th Birthday. The Orangery and grounds are a wonderful setting which you add to by providing a great ambiance, excellent service, nothing was too much trouble, and delicious food. Your afternoon tea was considered superior to those offered by local Michelin starred establishments. Thank you for making a special day even better.
Review: After many years of sampling afternoon tea all over England and Scotland, including some illustrious establishments, we struggle to think of a more balanced or better tasting experience than at The Orangery. It’s certainly our new benchmark for afternoon tea during our annual visits to Norfolk. It really is quite exceptional.
