Our Story

The Orangery Tea Room is located in the heart of the Norfolk countryside just 15 minutes from the centre of Norwich. Set in the stunning grounds of the historic Ketteringham Hall and enjoying views over the beautiful lake, it is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee or a pot of loose leaf tea alongside our home made cakes and sweet treats.

We also offer light lunches with a selection of sandwiches or paninis, salads or a quiche or soup of the day. Everything is made to order!

For an extra special treat why not book yourself, friends and family a beautiful traditional Afternoon Tea, with a selection of finger sandwiches, mini sweet treats and freshly baked scones with clotted cream and jam.

Our unique position will allow us to use wonderfully fresh, seasonal produce grown by the Norfolk School of Gardening here in the Walled Garden at  Ketteringham Hall. All of our coffee granules, tea leaves and peelings go back into the garden to be composted together with our compostable takeaway containers.

Well behaved dogs are made welcome on our terrace but must be kept on a lead. Water and dog treats are always available.

Due to the nature of the building there is currently no wheelchair access to the tearoom however we are trying to address this. We can make arrangements to move tables to those that can not get to us.

We booked an afternoon tea for a surprise baby shower and The Orangery were brilliant from start to finish! Fabulous catering for different dietary requirements and excellent value for money as well as the food being delicious! Will definitely be visiting again and again and again!"

Nikki BakerBaby Shower Afternoon Tea, December 2019

I have now been back several times to The Orangery and can honestly say it is one of the best tea rooms I have visited, which as a keen cyclist is quite a few. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and the food was great, with the exception of the cakes and scones, which are out of this world. It is now firmly on my map to visit as often as I can, an absolute gem for Norfolk."

Faultless service and quality of food, but it is the location that really wows. The tea room is set at the back of the very picturesque and beautiful Ketteringham Hall. It's nice in the Winter, and I imagine even nicer in the Summer. There are some lovely gardens, an impressive lake and various sculptures and features throughout the garden - it'd make a terrific wedding venue. Back to the Tea Room - the food was tasty and really reasonably priced. We had a light-ish lunch, finished off with a cake. The scones and the chocolate brownie were delicious. This place is also good for children - my 2 year old enjoyed himself, and the gardens are great for running around after lunch. Another plus point was the local and FREE car park. When we visited the car park was busy but for a few spaces. I believe most of these vehicles were for local businesses/offices. Give The Orangery a try - even just for a nice cup of tea in a beautiful location. Worth the visit. Will go again."
